Carl E. Harper, 78, Warren

Carl E. Harper, 78, of Warren, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at home, with his wife and children by his side. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Morin) Harper for 53 years.

Raised in Linwood, MA, he was a son of the late Theodore and Jenny (Wesgan) Harper. He proudly served in the United States Navy before graduating from Northeastern University as an electrical engineer. He had a successful 30-year career at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Middletown, RI. Carl enjoyed boating, his retired winters in Naples, FL, and spending quality time with his friends and family. He was a member of the Bristol Elks.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Jim and Traci Harper, Diane and Frederic Lherbier, and Donna and Jim Hooker. He was the devoted grandfather of Max and Laura Lherbier and Sophia and Hayden Harper. He was the brother of Owen Harper, Bradford Harper, Elaine Miller and the late Peter Harper and Beverly Weinmann.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI 02885, where family will receive friends, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 26. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27 from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. in St Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St., Warren. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery.
