Buyer beware — man spotted stealing Fed-Ex package in Barrington

Suspect seen driving silver Nissan

Posted

Barrington police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a silver Nissan with the Rhode Island license plate 347-562.

Police said a man driving that vehicle was spotted stealing a Fed-Ed package off of a Bay Spring resident's steps last week. The Shore Drive resident told police she had been working from home when a package she ordered was delivered. She said she was looking out her glass sliding door when she noticed the silver Nissan drive slowly past her home, then back up and park in her driveway.

The resident said a man exited the vehicle, walked up to the house and grabbed the package. He then walked quickly back to his car and began pulling away. That's when the Shore Drive resident bolted out of her house and tried to stop the thief. While she was not able to thwart the larceny, she did record the vehicle's license plate number.

The police ran the license plate which came back to a Woonsocket resident. Police provided a photo lineup for the Barrington resident, in an effort to positively identify the individual. The resident failed to select the Woonsocket man.

Police are asking that anyone who spots the silver Nissan with the license plate 347-562 to call the Barrington Police confidential tip line at 437-3933.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story did not include information about the photo lineup.
