Brothers stabbed in East Providence Saturday were once star athletes

EAST PROVIDENCE — Details about a Sunday morning, Nov. 25, incident when two brothers were stabbed in city continue to filter in, and The East Providence Post and www.eastbayri.com can confirm the two victims are brothers Jacob and Jared Burrows.

The incident occurred after some sort of altercation took place at a party being held at the Knights of Columbus club on Crescent View Avenue. It is believed to have happened as a result of a conflict over interaction with a female or females in attendance.

East Providence Police detectives continue to investigate the case, working off a description of the suspect. The two victims were each transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

The Burrows brothers were recently once two of the top athletes at East Providence High School, both among the better wrestlers in their weight classes in the state. Jared Burrows is the older of the two siblings and placed at the state wrestling meet more than once. Jacob Burrows won the 2011 state title at 119 pounds.
