Bristol Police: Reckless driving, stolen meds, oil spill and more

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between July 10 and July 16:

Monday, July 10

A resident on Bourne Street called police to discuss a complaint with a neighbor’s pitbull. Officers filed a report but took no further action.

Officers responded to reports of fireworks being lit off on Sousa Street at 9 p.m.

Tuesday, July 11

An off-duty Newport Police officer offered his counterparts in Bristol some assistance, calling in a reckless driver at Metacom and Bay View avenues around 4 p.m. Bristol police issued the drive a court summons.

A resident on Sousa Street complained of loud music coming from a neighbor’s home. Police issued a warning.

A resident on Mason Avenue reported a suspicious car has been parked on the street for several weeks. The car is parked legally, requiring no police action.

Wednesday, July 12

A resident on Bay View Avenue complained of loud landscaping equipment being used at 6:30 a.m. There was no equipment running when officers arrived.

A woman’s medication was reportedly stolen from a home on Mulberry Road.
Police helped break up a fight among juveniles on Wood Street at 7:30 p.m.

Officers dispersed a group of people loiterin at the Town Beach in a white sedan around 10:30 p.m.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Prospect Street just before midnight. Officers determined the incident to be verbal only.

Thursday, July 13

Police assisted with a haz-mat situation on Fernwood Road around 10 a.m. A company was removing an underground oil tank from a yard when the tank broke, spilling oil. The state Department of Environmental Management responded.

A resident reported being followed by a stranger at Franklin and Thames streets. Police file a report but no arrest was made.

Police assisted with a “disorderly juvenile” on Mt. Hope Avenue at 4 p.m.

Friday, July 14

A dog reportedly got stuck in a bush along the East Bay Bike Path near Poppasquash Road just after 1 p.m. The owner was able to free the dog.

Police investigated town ordinance violations, including a sliding door left at the curb on Bay View Avenue, a futon on the sidewalk on Wood Street, and a sink on the sidewalk on Bradford Street.

Police responded to reports of an unwanted person at a home on Catherine Street. The man was gone when officers arrived at 10:30 p.m., but they caught up with him on Wood Street, where rescue was dispatched for evaluation on the man.

A man was reportedly yelling in the area of Wood and Constitutions streets at 11:30 p.m. A report was filed but no citation was issued.

Saturday, July 15

Police responded to reports of an argument between a man and a woman in a car at Wood Street and Mt. Hope Avenue just after midnight. The woman reportedly fell out of the car, but the couple was gone when officers arrived.

A reportedly drunk man was making a scene on Metacom Avenue just before 12:30 a.m. He reportedly drove away southbound on Metacom, but he eluded police.

Officers responded to individual noise complaints on Charles Street, Ambrose Drive, Metacom Avenue Aaron Avenue and Gooding Avenue throughout the night.
