Bristol police logs: Ding-dong ditch and dumpster diving


The following items were among the Bristol police log Nov. 1-24, 2013:

Tuesday, Nov. 19

Police were called to Makin' Waves Hair Salon for the removal of a drunk person at 4:37 p.m. The person was gone before police arrived.

Kyle S. Odell, 23, of 26 Cedar Drive, Bristol, was arrested on a 6th District Court bench warrant charge.

A Sweeney Lane resident reported seeing a suspicious car in the area. Driver said he was with a home inspection company.

Wednesday, Nov. 20

A Constitution Street caller reported a possible phone scam.

Police responded to Riccotti Sandwhich Shop on Gooding Avenue for a report of a suspicious customer. It turned out to be a misunderstanding between the patron and staff.

Daniel Demelo, 42, of 7 River St., Bristol, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct.

A Bay View Avenue resident reported that two men kicked over her trash cans.

Thursday, Nov. 21

Police were called to the Bank of America on Hope Street for a report of a verbal dispute over funds in an account.

Verner E. Ramirez Barrios, 39, of Pawtucket, was arrested on a 6th District Court bench warrant charge.

Steven B. Esposito, 60, of 186 Mt. Hope Ave., Bristol, was arrested on charges of firing in a compact area.

A caller reported that a man was possibly "dumpster diving," who was previously trespassed from the Metacom Avenue-CVS Pharmacy area.

Laron D. Lee, 43, of 34 St. Elizabeth St., was arrested on charges of being a fugitive from justice.

Police received a call about a possibly drunk man walking along Metacom Avenue toward Warren at 10:23 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 22

A St. Elizabeth Street resident reported hearing a man and a woman arguing at 1:25 a.m.

A Bay View Avenue resident reported that she was being threatened.

Corey Lee Vierling, 23, of 62 Oliver St., Bristol, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct.

Police responded to Mt. Hope High School to help with a disorderly student. The student was returned to his mother.

A caller reported seeing a man urinating in public near St. Elizabeth Street.

Saturday, Nov. 23

A State Street resident reported that someone was soliciting around 10:18 a.m.

Police were called to an area of Wood and Franklin streets for a complaint that a store would not accept some returned items.

A Church Cove Road resident reported to police that he heard loud bangs he believed to be gun shots. Thought they might have been from deer hunters.

A Villa Avenue resident filed a report with police about a car she bought on Craigslist.

Mark J. Araujo, 42, of 23 Sweeney Lane, Bristol, was arrested on charges of DUI first offense, driving in possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a schedule I, II, II, IV, V substance.

Police were called to a home on St. Louis Avenue for a report that someone was playing "ding-dong ditch" at 11:19 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 24

Police were called several times about sewage backup into the basement of a home on Ambrose Court.

The fire department was called to extinguish a trash can fire on Violet Court.
