Bristol: Arrests for DUI, drugs, shoplifting and domestic assault

Following are incidents and arrests involving the Bristol Police Department from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3. Officers made several arrests, including for drunk driving, possession of narcotics and domestic assault.

Monday, Nov. 27

  • At 8:20 a.m., a Herzig Street resident reported a white Mercedes stolen from inside their garage.
  • An officer took a report of fraud on Lincoln Avenue at 12:06 p.m.
  • Kevin P. Paon, 45, of 29 Charles St., Bristol, was arrested and charged with shoplifting from Stop ’n Shop at 9:48 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 28

  • At 5:44 a.m., a State Street resident called police to complain that tenants in the same building had been arguing since 1 a.m.
  • A resident on Turner Road reported a package stolen from the front porch at 8:03 a.m.
  • An officer was called to Dolly Drive for a property dispute between neighbors.
  • A Second Street resident called police to get help removing an unwanted person from the residence at 10:48 a.m.
  • A resident called police at 3:24 p.m. to report that someone had placed an item underneath a lamp post in a Metacom Avenue parking lot. Officers investigated and confirmed that it was placed there as part of a scavenger hunt.

Wednesday, Nov. 29

  • Someone reported a rabid raccoon on Minturn Farm Road at 11:25 a.m. The animal control officer determined it was not rabid.
  • A Wood Street resident called police to report that someone had thrown wax on their vehicle.
  • A St. Elizabeth Street resident called police after seeing someone on their property via a surveillance system at 2:52 p.m. Officers responded and found no one on the property.
  • Officers were called to Buttonwood Street at 8:19 p.m. to intervene in a domestic verbal argument.

Thursday, Nov. 30

  • Kelli A. McGowan, 34, of 700 Metacom Ave., Apt. 224, Bristol, turned herself in at police headquarters on a warrant for possession of narcotics. She was arrested and charged at 8:03 a.m.
  • DEM was called to assist with an inured raccoon at the intersection of Metacom and Griswold avenues at 8:54 a.m.
  • Someone reported larceny from their vehicle at the intersection of Hope and Bradford streets.
  • An officer responded to the area of Hope and State streets to take a report of an argument between two people over parking spaces at 10:59 a.m.
  • Craig D. Lawson, 33, of 21 Monroe Ave., Bristol, was charged with domestic simple assault at 11:59 a.m.

Friday, Dec. 1

  • Officers dispersed a group from the area of Hope and State streets at 12:28 a.m.
  • Officers dispersed two people from the area of Thames and State streets at 12:37 a.m.
  • A patrolman dispersed a small group from an area along State Street at 10:06 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 2

A caller from Clipper Way reported a loud group of people at 12:06 a.m.

  • The harbormaster was dispatched to tow a dock that had broken free and was floating halfway between Walker and Hog islands at 10:59 a.m.
  • A caller on Sweeney Lane reported loud music at 3:44 p.m.
  • Donald Castigliego, 65, of 43 Brookfarm Drive, Bristol, was charged with violation of a protective order.
  • Residents reported noise complaints on Charles Street at 9:06 p.m., Sousa Street at 10:15 p.m., and Shaws Lane at 11:45 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 3

  • Officers visited Richmond Street at 1:26 a.m. and advised a loud group of people with loud music to move things indoors for the night.
  • Joseph Morris, 43, of 12 Bay Road, Warren, was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test at 2:25 a.m. along Hope Street.
  • Someone called police at 10:13 a.m. to report hunters in the woods at Colt State Park. Officers interviewed a hiker who was picking up trash near the entrance to Coggeshall Farm who said he also heard gun shots, but he believed it might have been coming from private land.
  • Aidan T. Hewett, 20, of Portsmouth, was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test at 7:18 p.m. on State Street.
