Bristol 11- and 12-year-old All Stars headed to state

The Bristol 11-and 12-year-old All Star team is headed to the Little League of America State Championship tournament Saturday.

The players defeated Rumford in a final game on July 14 at Veterans Memorial Field in Bristol. Their win capped a 15-team double-elimination tournament for the District 2 Championship. Throughout the tournament, the team won seven games, and lost one.

This is the first time in 29 years that Bristol has won the District title.

The team will play another double-elimination tournament against the other three districts' champions, starting Saturday. The deciding game will be held on July 27. From there, the winner travels to Bristol, Conn., to battle for the regional title.
