Bertha F. Sitarz, 94, New Bedford


Bertha Frances Sitarz, 94, of New Bedford, MA, died Monday, May 27, 2013.  She was happily married for 50 years to John A. Sitarz, who died in 2001.

Born in Warren, RI, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Katherine (Zagaja) Godek. A graduate of Warren High School, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and formerly, St. Casimir Church in New Bedford.

Mrs. Sitarz was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She leaves a son, Paul J. Sitarz and his wife Kimberly of Greenwich, CT; three grandchildren, John Sitarz II of Denver, CO and Kathryn and Kristin Sitarz of Greenwich; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and godchildren. She was the sister of the late Walter, Henry "Hank", Joseph, Stella, Mary "Mae", Frank and Edward Godek.

Her funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, and interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  Arrangements were by Machnowski Funeral Home in New Bedford.
