Beatrice Barton, 97, Westport

Beatrice "Betty" (Oliveira) Barton, 97, of Westport, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Milton A. "Buzzy" Barton.

Mrs. Barton was born in Westport, daughter of the late Joseph V. and Mary (Martins) Oliveira, and had resided in the town for over 60 years. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a supervisor for Shelburne Shirt Co., Fall River. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and a member of the Our Lady of Grace Church Senior Citizens, both of Westport. Mrs. Barton enjoyed knitting and sewing.

Survivors include her two daughters, Edythe B. Sylvia and her husband Oscar of Westport, and Betty Ann Carvalho and her husband Manuel of Westport; four grandchildren, Scott Arrington, Beth Arrington, Jayme Carvalho and Jason Carvalho; seven great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Manuel, Joseph, John and Louis Oliveira and Mary Yentz.

Mass of Christian Burial, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Thursday, December 14, at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 12 p.m.

Visitation will be Thursday, at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, from 10-11 a.m., prior to the Mass.

Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
