Barrington's Rebecca Maddock is leading goal-scorer at Division I Louisville

Rebecca Maddock was on the state championship-winning 2009 Barrington High School field hockey team. She is a sophomore at the University of Louisville. They are 7-3 on the season so far and had their first matchup in the Big East last weekend, defeating Georgetown. They beat Kent State today 6-1. Becca leads the team in goals and assists. Louisville have a Big East game at Providence College on Oct. 27. Details and pictures can be viewed at the University of Louisville Field Hockey site.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
