Barrington walkabout postponed to Feb. 16

Posted
A walkabout sponsored by the Barrington Land Conservation Trust and the town's Trails Team scheduled for this weekend has been postponed. With a looming nor'easter, the event will now be held on Saturday, Feb. 16 beginning at 10 a.m. Those planning to take part should park at the Legion Way ice skating rink. The walk will travel through the western side of Veterans Park, examining trails and wetlands in preparation for the next phase of park projects and trail improvements. The walk will move through wet and snowy conditions. The event will also move to Brick Yard Pond for the second part of the walkabout. Long pants, gloves and sturdy shoes are recommended for all walkabouts. Insect repellant is also advised. Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
