Barrington student performing benefit concert

Barrington High School senior Cecilia Yao will perform a benefit violin concert on Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. in the school's auditorium.

Cecilia said that while admission is free, donations will be accepted. She said she will give all proceeds from the event to the Barrington High School music department.

"It's my way of saying thanks," Cecilia said during a recent interview.

The local student is not a member of the school's bands, but has been allowed to play as a soloist during certain occasions. She has been a student in the renowned Julliard Pre-College music program since she was in the seventh grade.

Cecilia said her brother Will, a freshman at Barrington High School, will perform a couple of duets with her during the concert.
