There is no school today in Barrington.
A strong storm packing powerful winds pushed across the region late Sunday night and early Monday morning. The storm knocked out power to more than 100,000 people in Rhode Island, according to the National Grid website. More than 4,000 residences in Barrington were reportedly without power as of 6:45 a.m. on Monday.
Barrington was not the only district to cancel school on Monday. According to the WPRI website, dozens of districts canceled school because of power outages.
