Revaluation notices were scheduled to be mailed to residents early this week.
The town hired the firm Northeast Revaluation to conduct the statistical revaluation, during which officials re-assess the values of all residential and commercial properties in town.
Homeowners can log onto the Northeast Reval website — www.nereval.com — to set up an appointment to appeal their assessments or they can call 737-0300. There are two days set aside for day or night hearings, and three Saturdays set aside for those who cannot make it during the week.
Appointments cannot be made through the tax assessor's office.
"No value changes will be made at a taxpayers' hearing," stated a release from the tax assessor's office. "The information will be gathered by the hearing person and reviewed by the project manager, the company owner, and the tax assessor. After all the information has been reviewed, appropriate changes will be made and a revised letter will be mailed to homeowners whose assessment has changed."
