A Massachusetts Avenue resident contacted police on Thursday, Aug. 9, after his daughter fell victim to a scam.
The resident told police he gave $500 to his daughter to purchase tickets to a Taylor Swift concert. The resident said his daughter thought she found tickets on craigslist and transferred the money to the apparent seller. But the tickets never arrived and the seller stopped answering calls from the Barrington residents.
Police then called the same number, which was traced to an Ohio resident. Police told the man that he was going to be charged with a crime. The man initially said he was not aware of the ticket situation, but then agreed to return the money.
The Barrington resident later called police to say that his money had been returned.
