Flag football joins tackle football and cheerleading

Barrington Pop Warner is getting an early jump on registrations.

The local football and cheerleading organization opened up registrations for the Fall 2018 season on Jan. 1.

Barrington Pop Warner officials also dropped the registration rate to $100 for boys and girls who want to play football or compete in cheerleading.

In addition, the organization is — for the first time ever — offering flag football for boys and girls ages 5-10. The flag football league will complement the full array of tackle football teams offered by Barrington Pop Warner.

The league is also planning to host some fun off-season activities. Last year, Barrington Pop Warner held a NFL Combine night, which featured a visit from former NFL player Jamie Silva. The league is considering a single day flag football event this spring.

Meanwhile, Barrington Pop Warner cheerleading's off-season program is in full swing. For more information on the cheerleading program, email Susan Moran at sgmoran@cox.net

Banquet celebration

Barrington Pop Warner football and cheerleading will hold its end-of-season banquet on Friday, Jan. 26 at the Venus deMilo Restaurant in Swansea, Mass. The banquet, which runs from 6 to 8 p.m., will include awards presentations, raffles and other fun activities.
