Barrington police report: No money, no firewood

Posted

A Barrington resident was hoping to receive a load of firewood in his driveway on Friday afternoon, just in time for the frigid temperatures over the weekend. Instead he discovered he was out $250.

A Hawthorne Avenue resident called Barrington police at 4:23 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, to report the larceny of cash from his property. He told officials that he had called a Warren company that delivers firewood and ordered a cord. He told company officials that he would leave the money — $250 — in a milkbox outside his house.

Later that day the man discovered the firewood was never delivered. He called the Warren company and an employee told him that there was no money in the milk box — no money, no firewood.

The resident told police about what happened and officers are investigating the incident.
