Images captured on surveillance cameras inside the Barrington Public Library helped police track down the man who allegedly stole a laptop from the building last month.

On Jan. 19, security cameras inside the library captured images of a man with dark hair carrying a laptop out of the teen room at the library. Barrington police detectives shared the images with the local media and other police departments. Before long, officials from Cranston contacted Barrington with the name of the suspect: Paul A. Zazzaro.

Barrington police said Mr. Zazzaro has a lengthy criminal history. In fact, he is also wanted by police in Woonsocket and Groton, Conn. for separate offenses.

Officers in East Providence found Mr. Zazzaro on Evergreen Street in that city on Feb. 7 and turned over the 47-year-old man to Barrington police. Officers charged Mr. Zazzaro with larceny under $1,500. He still faces charges in Woonsocket and Groton.
