Barrington Police charge homeless man with assault
Suspect and alleged victim had been living in a tent in Haines Park
Barrington Police responded to a domestic dispute that occurred in the woods at Haines Park earlier this month.
East Providence Police called Barrington Police at about 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, regarding the domestic dispute.
Officers said the couple — a 31-year-old man originally from Woonsocket, and a 45-year-old woman from Warren — was living in a tent in a wooded section of Haines Park near the intersection of the East Bay Bike Path and Metropolitan Park Drive.
Police said the two individuals had gotten into a verbal argument that later turned physical. The Warren woman alleged that Jacob Haury had punched her in the head. The Warren woman refused medical treatment.
Police then charged Mr. Haury with domestic-simple assault.
It was not clear whether police planned to have the tent removed from the park.
