Police respond to four unrelated incidents in four days

Barrington Police responded to four unrelated incidents involving children and teenagers last week.

On Monday, March 11, police spoke with a resident about a domestic situation — the woman had locked her 14-year-old son out of the house for about 30 minutes because he was being rude to her. The woman's ex-husband called police to complain about the matter. No one was charged.

On Tuesday, March 12, police responded to Barrington Middle School for an eighth-grader who was not following the rules. The student was in in-school suspension and was not supposed to have his cell phone on him. However, the student was still using his phone and would not turn it over to school officials. The boy was later sent home with his parents.

Later that day, police responded to a local home for an out-of-control 12-year-old boy. The child had locked himself in the bathroom and was breaking items; his mother asked police to help unlock the bathroom door. When an officer unlocked the door, the boy was standing at the sink filling an empty Vasoline jar with hot water. The boy allegedly threw the water at his mother, who was near the door, but the water hit an officer. The boy eventually calmed down. He was not charged.

And on Thursday, March 14, police responded to a residence for an out-of-control 15-year-old. The boy's mother told police her son had broken items inside the house and he had locked himself in his bedroom and had a machete. Police entered the room with stun-guns drawn; the boy was later transported to the hospital for evaluation.
