Barrington plays host to state police search and rescue training

Posted

A number of Massachusetts and Rhode Island State Police vehicles filled the parking lot at Police Cove Park in Barrington on Wednesday morning, Sept. 25, making some passing motorists feel concerned about a possible boating accident in town.

That's not the case. In fact, the different law enforcement agencies are actually using Barrington River to conduct some in-water search and rescue training.

The practice work will include some instructional time on dry land and hands-on training in the river. An official with the Rhode Island State Police said the training will be conducted near the bike path bridge.
