Barrington native is President-elect Trump's press secretary

Barrington native and Portsmouth Abbey graduate Sean Spicer was named press secretary to President-elect Donald Trump. The announcement was made on Thursday, Dec. 22.

Mr. Spicer had been serving as the communications director for the Republican National Committee. Also named to top communications posts were Hope Hicks (director of strategic communications), Jason Miller (director of communications) and Dan Scavino (director of social media).

“Sean, Hope, Jason and Dan have been key members of my team during the campaign and transition. I am excited they will be leading the team that will communicate my agenda that will Make America Great Again,” said President-elect Trump, in the Dec. 22 press release.

Mr. Spicer graduated from Portsmouth Abbey and Connecticut College. According to his wikipedia page, Mr. Spicer received a master's degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport in 2012. He joined the Naval Reserves in 1999 and holds the rank of commander.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
