Barrington names Leisure Services Director


Michele Geremia has been named Barrington’s first Leisure Services Director.

According to Town Manager Peter DeAngelis, Ms. Geremia brings over 15 years of “successful management experience to the position.” She holds a Master’s in Labor and Industrial relations with a specialization in Dispute Resolution.

“Michele brings the requisite skills to manage the unique challenges of seasonal staffing,” Mr. DeAngelis said.

Ms. Geremia previously worked as the Human Resource Manager at Chemart, in Lincoln, where she was responsible for the creation and direction of an employee activities committee that developed motivational programs such as Super Bowl challenges, baseball events and games for families of all ages and abilities, among other work.

Ms. Geremia also has experience with writing and administering grant funding and experience with the developmentally and physically challenged populations.

”Michele brings a high level of enthusiasm and creativity to the position,” Mr. DeAngelis said.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
