The Barrington Majors 10U All-Star team built a 3-0 lead and held on for a 4-1 win against Burrillville in the opening game of the state championship tournament on Monday night, July 23. 

Barrington held a 1-0 lead early in the game, as its defense played well and Nate Coutant showed strong command on the pitcher's mound. Coutant pitched into the fifth inning before handing off to Jack Marley and Noah Taylor, who finished it out. 

Brock Carroll led the offense with 2 RBI, and Santino Giuffrida made a key defensive play in the bottom of the sixth inning. With two runners on base and one out, a Burrillville batter crushed a line drive toward Giuffrida at shortstop. Giuffrida gloved the liner for the second out and prevented any runs from scoring. Taylor then struck out the last batter for the final out. 

Barrington was scheduled to play against Cranston Western in a winner's bracket showdown on Tuesday night.
