Barrington Little League lands former Major Leaguer for opening day

Posted

Barrington Little League will celebrate opening day ceremonies in grand fashion on Saturday, April 27 — the league plans to host former Major League Baseball player Lou Merloni for a portion of the event.

Merloni was a standout member of the Providence College baseball team and played second base for the Boston Red Sox. He currently co-hosts a sports talk radio show on WEEI.

Barrington Little League opening day ceremonies begin at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Park on April 27. ABC6 anchorman John DeLuca is scheduled to handle the microphone at the ceremonies. There will be refreshments, games and other events planned for the kick-off to baseball season in Barrington.
