Barrington Lacrosse beats Hawks, heads to championship

PROVIDENCE—The Barrington High School Lacrosse team throttled Bishop Hendricken, 12-6, in the Division I semifinal game at Brown University on Thursday night. The Eagles down 3-0 to Hendricken at halftime, scored four goals in five minutes to take a 4-3 lead. The Eagles kept up the attack scoring nine goals in the third period and three more in the fourth for the, 12-6, win over the Hawks. Barrington will face LaSalle on Sunday, June 1, in the 2014 RIIL Division I Lacrosse Championship at Brown University at 5 p.m. The Lady Eagles Lacrosse team crushed East Greenwich, 16-6 in the girls semifinal on Wednesday. They will play for the 2014 RIIL Division I Girls Lacrosse Championship on Saturday, May 31, at Brown University at 5 p.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
