The Barrington High School computer science team recently hosted an international competition, and finished ninth out of 18 teams.

The ALL Star Competition featured teams from all across the United States and some from foreign countries. Eighteen teams qualified for the competition.

In the Senior 5-Person Division, Barrington finished ninth with 93 points. The Bergen County Academies team won the division with 111 points.

The contest consists of two parts — programming and short answer. Barrington scored 53 out of a possible 60 points in the programming portion of the competition, and tallied 40 out of 60 in the short answer section.

Barrington High School team members worked together during the programming portion, and then had the potential to earn 12 points each during the short answer section. Eliot Laidlaw scored 10 points to lead Barrington, whole Jonny Zhang and Michael Lamontagne scored nine points each. Daniel Sheinberg finished with seven points, and Shirley Huang scored five.
