Barrington hires new finance director

Barrington Town Manager Peter DeAngelis announced the hiring of a new finance director on Thursday, Dec. 19 — he said the town hired Kathleen Raposa to fill the spot vacated in October by the resignation of Dean Huff.

Mr. DeAngelis issued a short release marking the new hire.

“I am pleased to advise you that I have hired Kathleen Raposa as the town’s next finance director. Kathy has nearly 20 years of municipal experience having previously served as Warren’s finance director and for the past five years as finance director for the Town of East Greenwich,” Mr. DeAngelis wrote in an e-mail.

According to the town, Ms. Raposa has an accounting degree from  Bryant University and is a certified public accountant.

“Kathy has a proven track record as evident by EG’s high bond rating and consecutive years of National Government Finance Officer Association Certificates of Achievement in Excellence in Financial Reporting,” Mr. DeAngelis wrote.

Ms. Raposa’s first day of work in Barrington will be Monday, Jan. 6, 2014.
