Barrington High School Hall of Fame to honor 14 inductees

Tickets are now on sale for an awards dinner to honor the fourth class of the Barrington High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. — dinner is at 6 — at the Rhode Island Country Club on 150 Nayatt Road. Tickets to the event are on sale for $50 and are limited.

Eight athletes, two teams, one coach, two contributors and one administrator will be inducted into this year’s class. The fourteen inductees are: athletes Bill Baker ‘76, Dana Warren Gee ‘78, Bruce Goff ‘68, Patty Baker Holland ‘78, Holly Morris ‘97, Kate Nagle ‘97, Eric Opdyke ’89 and Raymond St. Vincent ‘55, the 1996 Softball Team, the 1985 Boys Swimming 200 Medley Relay Team, Coach John Signore, contributors Ernie and Pauline Woods and administrator Larry Deschene.

Nominations for the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame were requested from the public in the fall, winter and spring and the Hall of Fame Committee reviewed the nomination forms received and made its final selections in May.

“Like the first three BHS Hall of Fame classes, this is an extremely strong group and I speak on behalf of the committee and the larger BHS community when I say we look forward to officially inducting them and learning more about their specific stories of achievement and dedication in November,” said Kevin Ryan, president of the Barrington Booster Club, chairperson of the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame and a BHS Hall of Fame inductee.

“Not only is this a great evening honoring our former athletes but our current BHS student-athletes are now using this honor as motivation and encouraging each other to have Hall of Fame seasons.”

Checks to the awards dinner can be made out to the “Barrington Booster Club” and sent, with an order form located on the BHS Athletics website (downloadable at to Barrington Booster Club, Attn: Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 232, Barrington, RI 02806.

Those interested can also e-mail to request an order form or pick one up at the Barrington High School office.
