Barrington High School girls' cross country ranked number one

The Barrington High School girls’ cross country team is the best in Rhode Island according to a Rhode Island Track and Field Association coaches’ poll.

The defending state champ Eagles reportedly amassed 139 points and 13 first-place vote out of 14 voting coaches. LaSalle was second with 122 points and North Kingstown third with 116.

The Barrington High School boys’ cross country, meanwhile, were ranked sixth in a similar poll behind Hendricken, LaSalle, Cumberland North Kingstown and East Greenwich.

The state championship meet is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 4.
