Barrington graduate earns college hoops honor
Gracie Restituyo leads Springfield College to victory
Barrington High School graduate Gracie Restituyo, a member of the Springfield College women's basketball team, has been named the Springfield College Athletics Maroon Club Female Student-Athlete of the Week following standout performances against MCLA and Colby in the Hampton Inn West Springfield/Naismith Classic this past weekend.
Restituyo, a junior forward and sports biology major at Springfield, was impressive in a pair of wins for the Pride this past weekend, as she helped lead the Maroon and White to a Hampton Inn West Springfield/Naismith Classic title, averaging 14.0 points, 13.0 rebounds and a pair of steals.
In a 58-45 win over MCLA, Restituyo scored 18 points to go along with 15 rebounds before coming back on Sunday and scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds in a 61-60 win over Colby. Fellow Barrington High School graduate Grace Coutu grabbed a pair of rebounds for Colby.
Restituyo has now produced a double-double in her last four games, and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
