The Barrington High School girls basketball team lost its playoff opener on Monday night.
The host Eagles fell behind early against South Kingstown and trailed by 10 at the break, 28-18. Barrington tried to rally in the second half, but was unable to close the gap, losing 49-39.
Barrington entered the Division I tournament as the number two seed, finishing the regular season with a 15-3 record. South Kingstown capped the regular season with an 11-7 mark.
Andrea Kubas-Meyer scored 22 points to lead all scorers, while Alex Marinelli chipped in with 12. Only two other Eagles finished in the scoring column — Caroline Adamson with three points and Olivia Middleton with two.
The playoff loss followed a 56-55 win over Moses Brown in the final game of the regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 14. Kubas-Meyer scored 20 points, Marinelli had 15, and Middleton had 11 for the Eagles in the victory.
