Posted

Barrington High School's Annika Kelly finished in 10th place in the girls hammer throw championship at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor at North Carolina A&T University on Sunday, June 18.

Annika was one of three Barrington girls who competed in the hammer throw at nationals. Annika had a top throw of 156 feet, which was about six feet short of putting her in the top eight spots; the top eight finishers compete in the finals.

Annika's Eagles teammate Faith Polando finished 14th in the hammer throw with a top throw of 152 feet, 10 inches, while Sydney Polando finished 23rd in the hammer throw with a throw of 139 feet, 7 inches.

Barrington High School's Kate Zitzmann also competed at track nationals. The local girl ran in the one-mile Emerging Elite race and finished 24th. She clocked a personal best time of 5:07.60, including a final lap at 58.02 seconds.

Also competing at nationals was Barrington High School's Jack Dunn. Jack finished 37th in the hammer throw with a top throw of 159 feet, 3 inches.
