Barrington football team shuts out Hendricken, 7-0

The Barrington High School football team is the only undefeated squad in the Division I ranks, after it knocked off Bishop Hendricken 7-0 on Friday night, Nov. 8.

The Eagles and Hawks, who both entered the game undefeated, traded shots during the battle, but Barrington mustered the only score in the second quarter on a 2-yard touchdown pass from Barrington's Matt Rota to Sam Vetromile.

Hendricken threatened late in the game, but the Eagles' defense withstood the challenge and held on for the victory.

Barrington improved to 7-0 in the division, while Hendricken fell to 6-1. The Eagles will travel to Portsmouth in another tough battle on Friday night. The Patriots knocked off East Providence on Friday night. Hendricken, meanwhile, will square off against LaSalle.

The Eagles will host Mt. Hope in the annual Thanksgiving Day game, and then be the top seed in the Division I playoffs.
