Barrington boys dominate Class B weight throw event

Three Barrington High School students finished in the top five at the Class B Track and Field Championship held at the Providence Career and Technical Academy on Saturday.

Barrington High School junior Adam Kelly finished with the best throw from all the classes — tossing the 25-pound weight 75 feet, 9 inches. He took top honors in the Class B rankings and was more than six feet longer than any other throw at the competition.

Adam's teammate, sophomore Bobby Colantonio, finished second in the Class B meet with a throw of 69 feet, 3 inches. And Barrington junior Mike Alvernaz was fifth in the class with a throw of 57 feet, 7.75 inches.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
