Barbara W. Ward, Barrington

Barbara W. (Willis) Ward, of Barrington, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late Richard C. Ward.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Lovell and Ethel (Remele) Willis. Barbara was a school teacher in Barrington Public Schools, a member of various teacher organizations, an active member at Barrington Congregational Church as a member of the choir, director of the bell choir and children’s choir, a former member of the Barrington Preservation Society, and volunteered for the Adult Literacy Program.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Arena of Barrington, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Russell W. Ward, and Karen E. Crisman, and sister of the late Robert R. and George L. Willis.

A funeral for Barbara was held Saturday at Smith-Mason Funeral Home with a graveside service at Forest Chapel Cemetery. A memorial service followed in Barrington Congregational Church.
