Pockets of Bristol are without power Tuesday afternoon, as tree limbs and trunks have blown into utility lines and caused disruptions. As predicted, snow is falling heavily across the region and predicted to continue into the night.

Schools and many businesses are closed, and roads are mostly empty.

According to National Grid, 478 Bristol homes are without power this afternoon. Roger Williams University lost power, but it has been restored.

Bristol Town Administrator Steven Contente said the town has 20 trucks out plowing. By 9 a.m. this morning, they had towed 22 vehicles that were in violation of the town's parking ban. Mr. Contente believes many of them belonged to university students who left cars parked in the street while they are away on spring vacation.
