Arlene Shirley Garcia-Colon (Deso) died at home in Bristol, R.I., on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Mildred Deso, sister of the late Lorraine Thompson, Pauline Robtoy, Doris Sornberger and Butch Deso, and is survived by a sister, Ramona Dubie of St. Albans, Vt.

She leaves four daughters, Carol Burgan of Fort Pierce Fla., Linda Ortiz of Hamden, Conn., Juanita Tourangeau of Waterbury Conn., and Leah Colon Santos of Bristol, R.I., and four sons, Michael Tourangeau of Swansea, Mass., Danny Tourangeau of Guilford, Conn., Jay Colon of Casper, WY and Buzzy Colon of Fort Pierce, Fla. She will be reunited with her youngest son, Timothy Colon, in Heaven.

Her siblings called her sister and others, Chi Chi, whether it be Aunt Chi Chi or Grandma Chi Chi. She will be dearly missed by her 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. So many people called her “Ma,” she was everyone’s mother. She welcomed everyone.

She was an avid reader and a lover of music. But mostly, it was her family that meant the world to her. She loved seeing the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and has always kept involved with everyone for all her 91 years. She could tell you what was going on with all of us at all times.

Her services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Smith Funeral, Memorial and Cremation Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, Rhode Island 02885.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Bristol Public Library, 525 Hope St, Bristol, RI, 02809.
