Are you interested in repealing the Common Core curriculum?

A group will meet on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Rogers Free Library in Bristol at 3 p.m. to discuss a statewide effort to repeal the Common Core curriculum and PARCC testing in Rhode Island.

“This is an open meeting of a non-partisan, non-ideological citizen driven organizing action to reclaim our kids’ educational future,” stated a press release for the event. “Parents and teachers for common sense, not Common Core.”

Organizers of the initiative formed because they “feel strongly that the Common Core curriculum and its associated high-stakes testing will ultimately have a seriously negative impact on our kids’ educational future.”

Organizers are hoping that the meeting, which is open to the public, will be “a starting point for a statewide effort to regain local control over our curriculum.”
