Arcelio "Sal" Rodrigues, 91, Bristol

Arcelio "Sal" Rodrigues, age 91, of Westonia Lane in Warwick, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at the Avalon Nursing Home in Warwick with his loving wife by his side.

He was the husband of Rose (Securo) Rodrigues, his wife for 68 years.

Born in Portugal, he was the son of the late Julio and Maria (deJesus) Rodrigues.

Sal was an attendant at the RI Veterans Home, Bristol for many years before retiring in 1986.

He was a World War II army veteran.

He also enjoyed fishing and metal detecting.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Steven Rodrigues (Suzanne) of Warwick; two grandchildren, Sallie Brooks and Brad Rodrigues; and a great-granddaughter, Ella Rose Brooks.

Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-motherRose (Cortellesa) Rodrigues, a brother Anthony Rodrigues and a sister Maria Ventura.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State St. Burial will military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery on Chestnut Street.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 8:30 - 9: 30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to RI Veterans Home "Activity's Fund" 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, RI 02809.
