Anti-toll group urges people to attend Saturday bridge meeting

The group Tiverton STOP, an organization founded to fight Sakonnet River Bridge tolls, is urging residents to attend meetings this weekend at which bridge funding will be discussed.

On Saturday, April 6, the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority will hold two workshops on the revenue requirements for the four Newport Country bridges.

The first will be from   9 a.m. to noon and the next ( a repeat of the 9 a.m. program) from 1 to 3 p.m. in the  Roger Williams University Conference Center, Portsmouth. There will be an on-line discussion Saturday evening.

"It is our understanding that  they will make their case on costs of operations," the group said. "This will be about the  tolls." said STOP Chairman Antone Viveiros. "It is important that lots of people turn out."

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
