Barrington native and Gettysburg College junior Julia Soares recently earned the first regional award of her college field hockey career with a nod on the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-South Region Second Team.
Julia is the first Gettysburg student-athlete to earn all-region status since Hannah Fitzgerald in 2016 and she is the first junior to gain a spot since Liz Baron in 2012.
Julia emerged as the team’s top offensive threat this fall, netting team highs with nine goals, 19 points, and 76 shots. She tallied four game-winning goals and Gettysburg went 5-1 in games in which she scored.
In addition to earning all-region recognition, Julia was named All-Centennial Conference First Team, Centennial Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year, Academic All-Centennial, and Academic Honor Roll. She is a two-time member of the all-conference and both academic teams.
