Anna (Palumbo) Oliver, 77, of Bristol


Anna (Palumbo) Oliver, 77, of Bristol, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Hospice in Providence.

Born in Bristol, a daughter of the late Leonardo and Gaetana (Piemontese) Palumbo, she was a lifelong resident of Bristol.

Anna worked for the family business, Oliver Trucking for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, and the Bristol Train of Artillery Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to Atlantic City, gardening, cooking, baking, traveling and became an avid Red Sox fan late in life.

Private arrangements are in the care of Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
