Alice Sadie (Barboza) Roser,92, of Bristol


Alice Sadie (Barboza) Roser,92, of Fatima Drive passed away on November 22nd.  She was the wife of the late Robert Roser.

Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Silva) Barboza.   She attended Bristol schools and was employed at Hartman systems for many years before retiring. She was a past president of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children Barbara Jane Medeiros, Geraldine Silva and Robert L. Roser; grandchildren Tammy Medeiros, Ronald Silva, Richard Silva, Robert Silva, George Medeiros, Joann Roser Adams, Barbara Roser Aponte, Robin Roser Milona and Kim Roser Fortune, and nieces Sandra Carraturo and Joanne Solitto.

Funeral services were held November 27th from the George Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Richard Narciso at St. Elizabeth Church. Liturgical readings were by Justin Cordeiro and Elizabeth Ventura.  The offertory gifts were presented by Barbara Aponte, Kim Fortune and Robin Milona. Burial was private.  Serving as pallbearers were Ronald Silva, Richard Silva, Robert Silva, Justin Cordeiro, Mark Fortune and Louis Aponte.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
