Alice Oliveira, 82, Bristol


Alice (Cabral) Oliveira, 82, a former Bristol resident, passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Manor surrounded by her family, on Thursday, July 10, 2014.

Born in Falmouth, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Jose and Anna (Goulart) Cabral. Ms. Oliveira cherished her grandchildren and love spending time with her family. She had a passion for sewing and was an accomplished seamstress.

She leaves a son, John Oliveira and his wife Carol of Warren; her daughters, Alice Trudell of Beverly Hills, Fla., Carol Murphy and her husband Bill of Craryville, N.Y. and Darlene Acosta of Seattle, WA; her sister, Sadie Principe; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mary Medeiros and Emily Borges.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 14 in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, with burial in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth’s Manor, 1 Dawn Hill Road, Bristol, RI 02809.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
