Alcohol Ink 102 Workshop with Mary Wojciechowski

This workshop will begin with a review of the unique qualities of alcohol ink as a painting medium with an opportunity for participants to share their own paintings and personal discoveries. The focus will be on building upon prior knowledge and experience with an intro to more advanced techniques in ink handling and combining materials. Open to those with some previous experience.

Materials: Students may bring their own supplies but additional inks, alcohol spray and mediums will be available for a $10 fee. Students will bring their own Yupo paper so that size and format will be personal choices. Hairdryers can be brought if wanted.

Instructor: Mary Wojciechowski, a retired visual arts teacher, received her BFA degree from the University of Connecticut. Watercolor has been Mary’s principle medium for over thirty years. Most recently, she has expanded beyond her realistic boundaries and works experimentally with expressive color in her new paintings using alcohol inks. Mary is currently represented by Gallery 31, Orleans MA and True Grit Gallery, Middleborough, MA. See her work at www.mwojciechowski.com

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
