Alan Roach, 49, of Barrington

Alan Roach, 49, of Barrington, passed away after an 8-year battle with Multiple Myeloma on Saturday, May 18, 2019.  He was the husband of Cynthia (Reynolds) Roach with whom he celebrated 25 years of marriage in April. He was the proud father of Melissa and Nicholas Roach, both of Barrington.

He was born in Winchester, Mass. on June 2, 1969, and was the loving son of Monica Roach of Dracut, Mass. and James Roach of Seabrook, NH.

Alan was raised in Chelmsford, Mass. where he graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1987. In 1991, Alan graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where he became a true Philadelphia Eagles fan.  In 1992, he began a 23-year career with Hasbro Games and started his family in Wilbraham, Mass., before moving to Barrington in 2010. While at Hasbro Alan made many friendships that he cherished throughout his life. In 2015 he took his many years of industry expertise with him and joined a long time friend and mentor at Grand Prix International.

Alan was a game and toy designer whose creativity and love for fun brought so much joy to the world. Even in sickness, Alan never lost his sense of humor and desire to make every day fun. He loved to spend time surrounded by family and friends, playing games, drawing and cheering on his beloved Eagles. His greatest joy came from his family, whether it was watching his son play football, hearing stories about his daughter’s college adventures and travels, or just being near his wife. Alan was happy. To him, family was everything.

In addition to his loving wife, children and parents, Alan leaves his brothers David Roach of Hollis, NH, Eric Roach of Seabrook, NH and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen and Sean Coughlin of Ridgefield, Conn., his mother-in-law Sarah Reynolds Crissey of Westford, Mass. He is also survived by four nieces and nephews, Ben Roach, Michaela, Lauren and Jack Coughlin. He also leaves his best friend Lucy, the family dog.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave., Riverside at 10:30 a.m. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Alan’s memory to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, P.O. Box 414238, Boston, MA 02241-4238 would be deeply appreciated.
