Air show this weekend

The Rhode Island National Guard Open House Air Show will be held this weekend in the skies over Quonset State Airport, headlined bu the US Navy Blue Angels, the show will also feature the USAF F-35 Heritage Flight Team, the US Naval Academy Jump Team, Sean D. Tucker, Mike Goulian, the Geico Skytypers, Ace Maker Air Shows T-33, Mark Murphy P-51D Mustang Demo, F4U Corsair Demo, TBM Avenger Demo, Shockwave Jet Truck, and C-130J Super Hercules.

WHERE: Quonset State Airport, 210 Airport Street, North Kingstown
WHEN: Saturday and Sunday, June 9-10; gates open at 9 a.m., show begins at 11 a.m. and will run until about 4:30 p.m.
COST: Free; though there will be a voluntary $10 donation to Hasbro Children's Hospital collected at the gate

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
