Agnes M. Alderson, 88, Warren

Agnes Mary Alderson, 88, of Warren, died Monday, March 11, 2013, at Orchard View Manor in East Providence. She was the beloved wife for 67 years of Jennings M. Alderson.
The daughter of the late Ernest Bouffard and Alice (Ducharme) Bouffard, she was employed by SE Raines. Agnes was a Eucharistic Minister and she sang in the choir at St Jean Baptiste Church.
She was the loving mother of Bernard L. and Donna Alderson of Swansea, Robert H. and James A. Alderson of Assonet, MA. and Donald P. Alderson of Warsaw, NY. She also leaves seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Doris Rabideau.
Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, where the family will receive friends Thursday, March 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services are at 9 a.m. Friday from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Jean-Baptiste Mission Church. Interment will follow in St. Jean-Baptiste Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Jean Baptiste Parish Outreach, 645 Main St., Warren, RI 02885. See

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
