Adam P. Floor Jr., 77, of Bristol


Adam P. Floor Jr., 77, of Bristol passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Roger Williams Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Dolores (Rogers) for 53 years.

Born in Taunton, Mass., he was the son of the late Watela (Bzdula) and Adam Floor. Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Adam (Kathy) Floor, Cheryl Proto, Michelle Carroll and Gregory Floor; five grandchildren, Tyler Carroll, Katie, Adam M., Jillian and Kendra Floor. He is survived by his sisters, Norma Mitchell and June Andrade; two brothers, James Floor (Marie) and Francis Floor (Maureen).

Adam was a maintenance foreman at the Bristol Housing Authority until retirement and served in the RI National Guard for 23 years. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, Feb. 13, at 9 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Bristol, followed by military honors performed by the Rhode Island National Guard. Burial was private. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
